Hold on to all of them 13 wks is too young to tell on laced birds.
They need time to grow into their adult plumage, Sofar I think the second one is better than the rest.
But again they're still too young.

Thank-you everyone for the feedback!

I'm glad I am on the right track with my pick being #2. He is also smaller than # 1. Too bad #1 & #2 aren't as calm and curious as #3. He has the cutest personality! I will look into contacting the person I bought eggs from and ask them some questions.

#1 would be the best option in my opinion. granted with the black showing he has only 1 copy of dominant white, but he also has the richest buff color in the tail. the lacing also looks even across the length of the feather, whereas #2's breast lacing is thicker in the tips and has a lot of white in his tail. #3 will likely have very little lacing but hold onto him if his tail really is that low. between that and his dark coloration he may be useful to use (sparingly) in the breeding program.

If it were me I'd keep 1 and 3.

in future matings, select for fuller beards and crests and for there to be no solid white feathers anywhere in the body, especially the crest. good lacing in the beard will help also.

Guess I better find a place to separate out the 3 roosters from my one pullet. I do have more bantam Polish chicks hatching today and hope for more pullets to keep her company

OK, so in the spring i would like to breed my white crested black polish bantams.
I "eventually" want to breed them and sell them as show birds and pets.
I don't show chickens myself but it would be useful for me to breed show quality ones so people will actually have a use and want to buy them (since they don't have a very good egg production and not many people just have "pet" chickens)

I am new to polish bantams, i have one polish cockerel right now and planning on getting a polish hen/s soon (i have a mixed flock right now that are my pets).
I know i am a noob to breeding chickens, so i'm not planning on jumping right into selling without knowing what i'm doing.
I know lots of people work very hard to breed in and out the right colors and traits they want and i very much respect that.
I'm hoping that experience breeders can give me advice on how they started and what i should be doing or thinking about.
I've been reading many books and planning on getting some books on chicken genetics.

Maybe you guys can take a gander at my polish and let me know if he has any good breed-able traits or would make good show bird babies?
If you would like to see pictures let me know. (can't show polish hen pictures yet because I'm waiting to get her.)

So i have a couple questions:

What are people looking for in a show quality bantam polish?

I heard that blue and splashed are diluted color of black, so would it be ok to breed a white crested blue hen with a white crested black roo? (i know i will get a mixture of blacks, blue and splash. But i would like to know if the offspring will be accepted as "standard" or "approved" colors for showing?

Is it difficult to sell polish?

If any one has any comments or suggestions feel free!
I am open for any feedback or criticism.
Like i said, I'm not trying to jump into this, I'm planning as much as i can and would like to be a responsible breeder and chicken owner.

The silkies are all doing great, just went to see them.
I gave the silkies to a friend, their kinda on loan, I needed the Room.
They went to a good friend of mine, he's breeding them for me until I get more coops going.

I pretty much sold out of all my polish.

Just wanted to show some pics of my babies. I got their parents (Ferb & Valarie) from Cynthia this Spring. They are gowing up so nicely!
I have no idea about the sex but they are sure cuties!
