Hi I am interested in the Polish breed. I have a couple of questions...

1:Are they good for a backyard flock?
2:Does a hatchery quality polish lay pretty well?
3:How large do they get?
4:Can anyone show pictures of their Polish that they got from a hatchery

thanks

Here are a couple of pictures of the Polish that we hatched out. My husband and I both posted pictures of the buff colored one on here when it was younger. Thought I would share pics to show how it matured. We now have a small flock of chicks that look like these two with either a silver base, a buff base, or a gold base.
We have just been calling them spangled. Not sure if that would be an accurate name for them or not.

Here are some pics of my Polish. All of them are from baregretchen, except for the silver laced. What do you think?

This is my bantam Polish "Lacey". She's about 10 weeks old. I don't know what to call her color. She's from Boggy Bottom Bantams, from his black-crested white stock/ I got blacks, whites, a grey-red mottled type--Gracie-- and her.
Anyone want to name this color? She's gorgeous in person.
I'll post Gracie, the grey & red mottled, tomorrow. She has a stunning large head crest and is extra compact.

The other great thing is Lacey's personality. She's as friendly as a d'Uccle, and smart, and not anxious or flighty at all. She's about the nicest bird in my flock, and if I could keep only 3, she'd be one.
Lacey follows me all around, likes to be put on my shoulder, and just wants a nice neck scritch for all her efforts. She'll also sit in my lap inside if I want to rest or use the computer.

Okay, I've finally seen my first porcelain bird up close. . I think it fits her... Black crested Porcelain.

Thank you, banty! I love her. She is very lovey, too. She has a slight amount of cuckoo in her. She has too much chocolate in her crest, but she should make gorgeous babies with Hershey.
