REally....? OMG... then all three are going to be that way... what kinda of humidity should it be.... it's in the 50s right now...
thanks
Melinda

You'll get multiple answers to this question. We hatch at 70% humidity, this is what we found works the best. Make sure that your hygrometer is accurate. I had one for awhile that was off and this affected our hatches drastically.

My bator won't go that high in humidity...what do can i do to get it up to that level... I've added lots of water ans still maybe up to 61 but the next time i checked it dropped back down... If I put one of those red caps back into the hole, would that help?

The chicks are in the brooder now and i haven't touch them,. i wanted them to get used to the transaction to the brooder. they're not as bad as i thought, too. I did take pics, just have to upload them first...BBL

The problem with those small incubators is the lack of fresh air when you cap the vent holes, I believe they only have one or two as it is. What you need to do is put a sponge, paper towel, feminine pad, etc into the water and get it up into the air to give you a greater surface area and allow the water to vaporize better. Even a wet paper towel that is sticking into the water to wick moisture, and the top portion spread out to give the surface area should help.

I do have paper towels (2) in there, but maybe not enough... I'll fill ALL chambers with paper towels then add more water... i'm now thinking that my last three eggs might have shrink wrapped. i sure hope not...but if the humidity isn't up there....IDK...

OK, here's my pics of the three that hatch, but i think they're all ROOS....! AGREE? DISAGREE??

Melinda, don't fill all the chambers with paper towels. What you want is just the corner of a towel down into the water, after wetting the whole towel first. Then stretch the rest of the towel up out of the water. If I remember correctly these small ones have a wire mesh type floor piece that fits in place over the water chambers(forgive me, never had one of these small models). Either run the towel down through the mesh into the water, or around the side and down into the chamber. You want it to wick water up the towel and create more surface area.
