Acid, how many tolbunt hatched for you? you never said... and pics? I just wanna drool!! LOL
Melinda

Melinda, we had 2 hatch out of the first 8 eggs, 5 out of 5 of the second batch, 4 out of 4 of the third batch, and there are 3 in the bator that hatched in this hatch. I think there was only 3 eggs in this time, but I'm not sure.

I'll get some pics up on the FB page. Keep an eye out, but it probably won't be until tomorrow.

I have 5 Polish in the bator, and 6 under my silkies. On day 18, I may just put mine under the silkies. My current Polish girls must think that silkies are related. I have tried to keep them out of the silkie pen, but they always find a way back in. Tonight I go to lock up and there's 9 silkies and 4 Polish in the silkie coop. Sheesh!

Buff Laced chicks - So, they'd be brown and black as chicks. They'd only carry one gene for dominant white though, so after that they won't breed true, but for now they'll look true to type.

Hey guys I am new to the polish breed, my daughter who is 6 had talked me into getting her "Mushroom Head" Chickens as she calls the Polish, lol, and right now I have 12 of the little silly critters in my outdoor brooder. They are about 5 weeks old now, and I need to thin out the chicks I have (I have 50+ of various breeds) and I want to keep only 4 maybe 5 polish.

Do you guys have any tips on what to look for in 5-6 week old polish as to help determine sex? I will post pictures of the main ones I hope to keep in a little while today, after my camera batteries charge.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Does anyone have any photos of 4 week old GL male and female. and 3 week old SL male and female? I have acquired 3 Gl that are 4 weeks and one SL that is 3 weeks and would just like to compare and contrast. Purchased them a couple of weeks ago from someone who got a larger order from Ideal. I have no idea of the sex of any of them.

One of my GL seems to have much more of a "top knot" than the other two....fuller I should say. The other two GL and the SL have more of a "mohawk" at this point. I got them too late to use the sexing indicator of looking at the shape of the "poof"

In addition...do the females lay pretty well? What age do they commonly start?

Thanks in advance for any photos.
