[Well Wilma is sporting her scrunchie very well and seems to be less skidish running around the yard.]

That is an awesome idea... I'm gonna try it...

Here are a few of my better Polish - at least I think they are - I'm still new to this. I'll take opinions because while I've read the standard I'm still not sure what I'm looking at. They are all hatchery chickens but I bought 50 by accident and then sorted out which of the 25 to keep and which to sell so I ended up with the best of the bunch.

Larry, Moe and Bea one of my Golden Girls. Larry is missing a claw, Moe has a slightly tore wattle and Bea has white in her crest.

Al my roo who is currently bald. He has a messed up wattle and lopsided comb, Snowy who has a bump above her eye and Peep who is my favorite. She comes when she hears my voice all the way across the yard. I think she is my nearest to showgirl.

Curley and Little Bear, I think they are good birds, crests are a bit wild.

Einstein who thinks she's a guinea.

Bertie is good except for a few feathers in her crest going the wrong direction.

Speedy who is missing a couple tail feathers now thanks to my son trying to catch him. I had a perfect splash girl to go with him but a fox took her this winter. I really want to find him a couple girls.

Not sure why the pictures are different sizes, I must have hit something.

Not a fan of non-bearded laced birds but I will admit, the first two girls are very nice.

The darker laced girl is the better, however I'm curious how old they are? Their crests would naturally need to be much fuller but if they're really young it isn't too much to worry about.

LOVE Curly and Little Bear.

Does anyone have experience with buff laced crested over barred rock? The chicks I'm getting are sex-linked. They have half-crests and the upright polish stature.

Here's a male offspring. Neon orange like I've never seen -- he's grown a mighty nice WHITE tail now as well:

Here's a female offspring -- same cohort but a younger shot -- had to sell this pullet for x-mas money but I've got several more pullets that look just the same. (Note there is a male half-sib in the background. He's the buff laced over a mille fleur d'uccle)

PS The sore on her leg is from getting it shut in our backdoor - the chicks really bonded with me and would follow me into our mud room to eat. They've always been much friendlier than my similarly reared polish.

Pretty sure that isn't sex-linking you're seeing. If it was, the male would either be barred or be white like the female there.

Still, very cute!

I don't have experience with such cross but know genetically what it would create. I do have experience with gold laced (only one difference between the two) and other breeds though.

Perhaps it's premature to say sex-linked. I've only had a handful grow out old enough to see pointy feathers in front of their tails.

I hatched out a second generation cross of the male offspring over the barred rock hen. Alas, the one and only appears to be male, white with orange around his neck - nice half crest though.

I have a bantam white crested Polish rooster named Caesar... he will be a year old in May. A friend has him as a pet, but he really needs to be around hens. I am helping her find a new home for him. He is currently in Downingtown, PA and I am in Langhorne, PA... so if you know anyone in the area that would love to have a very sweet, beautiful new roo... and is in the area for local pick-up only... he can be picked up from either location... I would be very thankful. It is killing her to make the decision to rehome him... but he needs to be with others like him.

Thanks for reading...

Diana
