I would definitely PREFER not to breed any related birds together, but it is almost impossible to find these guys, related or not. Sigh. I will have to work with what I have for now and hopefully be able to outcross with the GL and go from there. I will definitely be on the lookout for anyone willing to share some eggs in the future. I've been contacting, begging, and stalking breeders of these birds for the last 2 years, so I think most people would consider me committed.

Oh no - two years? I've been on the hunt for six months, and my husband has decided I have a definite screw loose somewhere.

I have a young flock of GL. Two roo and 3 pullets. Hopefully by the end of the year we will be getting chicks consistently. I am on the hunt for a tolbunt roo - preferably. My guy had a resp problem and had to be put down.

ETA: They are not easy to photograph. They rarely stand still for 5 seconds!

Are these golden polish? I ordered some from mmcm to arrive in may. Are they as leggy as they look or are these young ones? I'm not sure I like all the leggyness. Do they round out as they mature? Sorry for all the questions, but I have never had polish before and the pic in the catalog is not a real pic. Just curious. I do like the tophat!

They are Golden Laced. The roos were hatched this past november so they are about 5 months old. The pullets are about the same. I'm not sure on the bearded hen. She is the only one of the three laying right now. They are large fowl. so they are good sized. Not as big as my orps, but good sized.

Hatchery based Polish are in most cases indeed leggy or skinny looking, but they can vary. Don't expect something full-bodied and beautiful from hatcheries. . . They breed for production only, so with that comes a small body that focuses only on egg production.

Now, don't get too scared off by this. I've got a Silver Laced with very nice legs. From a hatchery.

Had a great day at the American Poultry Association Semi-Annual Show in Stevenson, WA. My WC black hen was Reserve Ch. AOCCL to Brian Decker's Cornish. The judge Jamie Matts said at the banquet. "The Cornish and Polish at this show could go anywhere in the nation and win." Happy sigh. I sold a few chicks and could have sold dozens more, but I've hatched mostly males so far this year and didn't want to disappoint anyone. I sold a pair at top price to a nice adult breeder, and several more at bottom prices to really cute 4H kids. What a great, if very wet, day.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if there is anyone in Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin who have any Polish for sale. My sweet little Polish hen was killed today by my turkeys

(who are looking for a new home now!!!) I am pretty heartbroken over it as she was almost dog-like. She was also my only polish and I would like to get another one. I had to drive over 6 hours round trip to get her and I was looking for someone a little closer this time. I would be willing to pay for SQ, but it is not necessary. Chicks would work to easy my pain as well.

Actually, none of those birds are hatchery.
