I got the black BCW from a breeder - LF not bantam (Toledo, WA). Both chicks died within an hour of hatch. I'm not sure but I think the heat was too high, it's adjusted now. I didn't know that just a degree or two would make that much difference. I feel so bad that it's my fault they are dead. Only have two more eggs in there, hope they are ok. I'm going to really keep tabs on then.

Lost 6 ducklings to hawks today, beginning to feel like Steve, except I haven't lost nearly as much as he did.

Keeping fingers crossed

Polish have always been my favorite breed and at one time anything frizzled I thought was ugly. I bought some hatching eggs that were frizzled naked necks out of curiousity. Now I am hooked. So now I am looking for frizzled polish. Can anyone help me? Would like to see more pics of frizzled polish.
Thanks

This is Ugg, my polish frizzle pullet. Because of her severe scissorbeak she equates me with food and follows me everywhere. I absolutely adore her. She will not stay with the flock, will squeeze thorugh the fence and wander around. Rebel,

This is Lucy, who is now known as Louie. His topknot is just starting to fill in more.

Pics of my two Polish. One is white, but has a few black feathers mixed in. The other is a silver laced. I'm a little worried about the crest on the SL, as there is less of it on the right side. Its a little hard to see in the photo. Has anyone else seen this before? Will the other half eventually come in?

I have 4 of 6 polish eggs hatched!

Does anyone here have or know of someone who have Crele Polish?? There where some up for bid this past Dec. I was put on a waiting list and finally emailed mid Mad that my dozen where ready. In April I tried to contact the person who had them because I never heard anything else from them and needed to plan my hatchings. After several emails and messages I was finally answered. So...I received the eggs..they where packed in shavings?? Anyone else received eggs packed like this?

They had settled the box was like a piece of hard steel. 4 completely crushed and another cracked. I was sent extras totaling 23 eggs. Of the rest 5 had detached air sacs, one blood ring and 6 showed no sign of fertility. Of the eggs I had 6 that developed costing me 52.00. Of course with shipped eggs rule of thumb is hope for half to hatch. I wanted to find someone else who got these as well. They had a very long list of buyers. The packing was horrible...shavings???? Inside the carton and packed inside the box..not fine soft shavings....large rough flaked. I don't know what to do. I do not mind paying that much for eggs...but...if one is going to charge that much..they should attempt to make sure they are safely packed.

Never...never...never again! Lesson learned in a very expensive way.

Hi! I have a question about chicken genetics...I have a GL Polish cockerel (Ideal - so nothing show worthy, but cute and so far nice...but with a crocked toe), all my girls are egg layers (2 leghorn, 2 RIR, 2 Buff Orps, 1 EE, 1BR and 1 Black Australorp). If we hatch eggs, will the resulting pullets when grown retain the egg layer traits or tend more toward the (so I have heard, but could be wrong) less frequent and smaller eggs of a Polish. How would the cross effect egg color? Are there any "rules" or does it all just vary with the individual? Just wondering and very curious. Thank you all for your expertise!
