I raise mine with laying mash and vegetable scraps. They do multiply fast. I just have a small tub of them but need to expand.

My problem is temperature control. In the winter I can keep them in the garage. During the summer temperature is more extreme. Although I have a cooler in the house and another in the garage I turn the off if I go away for several days. In order to raise any kind of worms I would need to keep it on. My second refrigerator is usually loaded with clay.

Ok, they don't need to be cool. I live in GA, my mealworms have been outside all summer. They are undercover in the back shed (open on 3 sides) but they have still been out in the heat. They do fine. During the winter I will have to bring them in though, I have never tried leaving them out over winter.

Yes I totally hand build stuff including portraits. The humidity level here is 9% Ya see why the refrigerator is useful. And of course the temperature is triple digits for three month, 90 for three months and the other six months pleasant but still dry. The heat is getting to me and I am seriously considering returning to the 5 thousand feet elevation of NE AZ where the summers are only in the 90's but still dry.

We are in the works of building all new pens for my birds so I will have room to work with more colors and sizes. I am super excited! Can't wait for the husband to get home from his business trip so we can finish up! I will be working for chocolate cuckoos, and adding another new color.

This boys will be going in with my chocolate female, a WCB female and a cuckoo female when the pens are ready.

All of mine come running when they hear me. I have to be careful not to step on them. Friendliest birds I've ever had. I have several who insist on being on me when I sit, others that just want to be on the arm of the chair. And they're like that to anyone who comes near which is a thrill for the grandkids and people who didn't think chickens were pets too!

Those of you who've been breeding Polish, is it breeding? I bought mine from a breeder who's been breeding for many years. Maybe the friendliness is in the breeding?

Does your breeder live close by you ? Your flock sounds wonderful. Mine need some debriefing yet but they are becoming less scared. And scrambled eggs are almost are helpful as mealies.
