Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he looks like a cockerel. I've had boys not get wattles until they are about 6 months old. Others have got them started by 6 weeks. Nothing easy when it comes polish. The crest looks like it is just getting a few wild looking feathers even though it's a full rounded crest.

He's been losing feathers like mad lately. The backyard is full of black feathers from him. I noticed the pointy crest feathers, too, but it's been raining a lot here this week and he keeps getting his head wet, so I'm not sure if they're pointy or just waterlogged.

With him being 11.5 weeks he may be going through a mini molt. They have several of these as they age until they have their first full major molt.

Crests are a real pain in the wet!! Does them no favours at all in the looks department.

This bird in the pic is a cockerel at about 3 months ~

That's a pretty bird... I guess Daff and I will just have to wait a little while longer to see what he turns out to be. Unfortunately I can't have roosters in my county. :(

I just inherited a beautiful little silver laced polish from my cousin who had to get rid of her chickens. Her name is Cookie. I've never had a polish so will be reading up on the breed. Will post a picture soon.

Lovely silver lace you have there. Have you checked she has not got stuck somewhere? As they have the large crest they can't see well and can often wonder into places and get stuck. Something could have spooked her and she has flown. Limited vision really can have its down sides. I only let mine out when I can supervise and stay with them. Often having to rescue them when they get lost.
Hope you find her soon :fl

I just can't imagine where she would be. Checked both coops, the doghouse, behind the a/c unit, under the vehicles, even in the garage because I had it open for a minute.

She's the only one of that kind I have so she is just out with the rest. Usually she stays right around the coop. I just hope she didn't get out in the field. I may never see her and she may not find her way back.
