Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was hoping for all pullets. The solid black on is the most agressive one out of the two. Not sure what you call it but those 2 almost look like they are fighting. It was funny this morning those two trying to crow.

One of my girls acted very rooster-ish from the beginning. I even thought it could have been a boy, but it's a girl... she is the highest ranking pullet so I think that has a lot to do with her behavior.

As for trying to add new chickens to the flock... I read somewhere that the best way to do that is to put the new additions in a small enclosure inside the coop for at least a week. That way the birds can all see each other and get acquainted without hurting each other. Also, if the new additions are much younger than the older established flock, it is recommended that you wait until the youngest birds no longer sound like babies. One more thing... if the smallest bird is a LOT smaller than the rest, you can expect the other birds to be very rough on him/her so you may need to make a little coup just for that one bird.

I have a perfect example of what jenniferlamar70 said....

One of my nearly 2 week old polish would peck at everyone else's eyes when I first brought them home. I made a little wire box with food and water for it so it could be in the brooder box with everyone else. After two days of being in the box I put him back with the others (supervised) and he was much better behaved.

Any pics of your babies? These are my first! I adore them! :cd :love

I have questions about polish colors too. My whole flock was killed by a determined fox. There were several eggs in the box so I borrowed an incubator and took a chance at some hatching. 3 hatched! They are such strange colors. I had a buff laced roo over two white crested blacks, a silver laced and a gold laced hens. How do the colors work with polish?
