Political Ramblings

That's not what I wrote.

More legal guns means that more such weapons will find their way into the hands of criminals.
Surely you don't mean that guns have independant thoughts and the ability to sojourn into the hands of criminals? I would guess here they may need some help from us humans.

You're on good form today!

Just wondering is there any Americans telling the English people to change there gun laws ?

Why are there English people ( Piers Morgan, Martin Bashir ) telling us to change our gun laws ?

Not as far as I know, but you are free to make your own suggestions.

I guess that the two people you name are doing the bidding of their employers, albeit with some personal commitment. I haven't followed Bashir but I note that several US citizens have thanked Morgan for his efforts. Perhaps they, the TV channels and the individuals, should be thanked for giving people a public voice on the subject.

Perhaps you could ask CNN and NBC your question.

And you have renewed my faith in UK transplants. Unlike Piers Morgan!!

I'm no great fan of Piers Morgan but he's done a good job on his show in general. His manner can be abrasive but he's needed that with some of his recent guests. I suspect that some people who are criticising him at the moment would take a different attitude if he had supported the NRA and GOA view.

The current debate is an important one. We went through the horrors of a child massacre and others in the UK and so did Australians. The response from the public was swift and appropriate laws were passed promptly. I accept that the culture in the US is different but, surely, some chnage is now needed and I hope that people are willing to note the lessons already learned elsewhere.

I liked CNN when they used to report news. MSNBC never has reported the news. They both just give their opinion on what's in the news. To say that their in the news reporting business is a joke.

I can't get NBC here so I can't comment. CNN's standards of impartiality are, let's say, not what I have been used to. The BBC news and current affairs outfit, though, has yet to recover from Tony Blair sticking a red hot poker up its behind for daring to suggest that he and the intelligence services were up to no good.

Piers Morgan's show isn't a news broadcast so there's no objection to opinions being aired.

CNN hosts come and go so fast it is hard to keep up let alone get a good understanding of the host's abilities. I cannot remember the show/topic but it only got like 50,000 viewers during a primetime debut airing. FOX is the most popular network in the US by far.

I agree the debate is very important I just hope the motives of our administration are legitimate. The administration and others have this belief that the NRA and the Republican are in bed with each other but in reality 1 in 88 Americans own a gun and that tells me they are not all Republicans in fact in many of the hunting shows that debut celebrities I think it is fair to say that the mix of R and D are very representative of the population.

Correct me if I am wrong but when the UK did their gun bans did they have the right to bear arms similar to the US?
Here the 2nd Amendment is as important to most Americans as the 1st Amendment and that really complicates the issue. To some it is like losing a limb and our other rights would forbid the implementation of such bans as are being introduced by the left and that brings a whole other set of issues to the debate... one being how to collect said illegal guns among others. Some roads once gone down that road are too far to turn completely around. A president that has used executive orders to trump the Constitution is one I do not trust.
