poll: are you legal or an outlaw?

Illegal! But I am working with the city council to try and convince them to see the error of their ways.

Sec. 4-86. Keeping of horses, livestock, poultry, and rabbits.
(a) Horses may only be kept within the City of Jacksonville as permitted in the City of Jacksonville Zoning Ordinance.
(b) All stables, pasture areas, and manure and feed storage areas for horses, livestock, poultry or rabbits must be kept in a neat and healthy condition so as not to constitute a nuisance.
(c) Rabbits and poultry for private use and enjoyment are permitted in the city limits as long as they do not become a nuisance because of noise or odor.
(d) All livestock, rabbits and poultry raised on a commercial basis are prohibited in the city limits unless the use is in conjunction with the operation of a bona fide farm.
(Ord. No. 90-53, 10-16-90)
Secs. 4-87--4-89. Reserved.

so does this mean I'm legal?

See there is this and also some other thing that sounded like no. It's crazy confusing. I could call someone but what if that tipped them off and it's a no.

Why would they be any nuisance? I mean they are quiet and adorable and sweet and they don't stink.

DANGIT. That is Jacksonville, NC. Not Jacksonville, FL.

Also illegal, if I owned more than 1 acre i could legally own up to four hens but no roo. i own .15 of an acre and have 8 hens and 2-3 roos(still not sure about 1). the meter readers who jump my back fence haven't turned me in yet and my neighbors don't mind the roosters. it's been 2 years now, they say since i keep BOA mowing/cleaning the abondoned/foreclosed house next to mine and keep mine looking better they say go for it.
