HA!! ditto here... every.single.day.... several times a day the neighbour husband, the neighbour wife, the neighbour son... all stand on the back step of their house yelling their dog's name over and over again, always loud and angry, while the dog barks at everything. ug.

Anyone have chickens in Casa Grande, AZ City or Eloy,
Arizona?

Not 100% sure if I'm an outlaw or law abiding chitazen, but I feel I have a God given right to eat nutritious food.

I'm legal to have a certain amount of chickens, but once I have my flock I will be 3-4 times the "legal" limit. The limit is just a arbitrary number some fat politician came up with have no/limited knowledge of chickens, I won't/don't feel bad about being an outlaw at all.

I'm zoned agriculture and with 5 acres, unlimited number. For now I have 26 Barred Rocks. Not too sure about the coop but that is a fight for the future.

I love to hatch and do a batch or two a year. Would love to have a legal coop... Went through all the hoops with the City about variances and whatnot and found out that they do not enforce the rule in the ordinances about having written consent of everybody within 350 feet (I guess they have better things to do than to bust chickens) AND that if you only have 3 that they are considered pets. They do require you have the consent of all your immediate neighbors. All my neighbors want me to have chickens. UNFORTUNATELY there's one jerk on the HOA Board who's grinding an ax for me and insists NOT, even though the Board's Prez and everybody else is all for it. If I did set up a coop I can guarantee he'd lodge a complaint with the City (and, ergo, instant chicken removal) before the shavings were down...and he monitors the streets and back fences regularly.

I have to snicker, though. He'd probably stroke if he knew how many chick(en)s had already been in the neighborhood.

So at this point I have my stealth chicks in Henderson, NV, and -- with decidedly more than 3 in the brooder -- would be considered an outlaw.

DH and I are working on an exit plan from this community to a place with no CC&R's and no chicken restrictions... It's just a matter of time and money before I become a chicken hoarder.

BTW, folks that have ordinances that say "X number of feet from a neighbor's dwelling" may want to clarify the terminology with the Zoning Dept. A rational person would think a dwelling equals a building. It turns out that they (well, here, anyway) define "dwelling" as neighbor's property and, therefore, you're dealing with measurements from property lines. I didn't know that! (And, if hauled into court, I would argue it....but it's hard to fight City Hall)

So they figure from the border of your property lines out X feet, buildings not necessarily the marker points. If it hits your neighbor's property line (but not the building) you need the consent. Sucky, right?
