So I know you're supposed to train your dog to only come to you or touch you when called, never jump on you, don't get on the furniture freely, only walk through a gate behind you on command, don't beg, don't ask for pets, don't sit on the table chairs etc. buuuuuuut, I am a dog person to the extreme and I allow all of those things (to a degree).

**You don't have to read through my ramble if you don't want to, TL;DR I can tell my dogs to stop the bad thing if I want to but I don't care to, my dogs are like shadows or Velcro toddlers and I like it that wayšŸ˜‚**

My dogs can come to me as soon as they see me, I know in some dogs that creates separation anxiety but mine are just crazy enthusiastic to see me and I feel the same way about them, I don't care if they run up to me instantly.
They also jump on me, I have always told them not to jump on others and I've told other family members to tell them no, but I don't mind when a 14lb dog puts his paws on me it's not a problem, in fact I often ask him to stand next to me because that makes it easier to pet him, and if I want him to stay down I tell him and he listens, the big dog will jump around me but he does not put his paws on me, and if I tell him to he will stand on me and lean into a bear hug🄰
My dogs also just get on my couch and bed whenever they want to, I have thought about training them to only sit on a designated blanket though.
My dogs are also Velcro dogs and I expect them to just shadow me wherever, I don't give them a command to go through a gate behind me unless they're hesitant, and if I want them to stay behind I just say so and they listen.
I also allow begging as long as they aren't physically pushing me or barking, it doesn't bother me in the slightest that they're watching me eat, and they're like a convenient little garbage disposal for cooked carrots and soggy chicken skinšŸ˜‚
My dogs can freely come and lean on my knee or jump on my lap (unless I say no) and get pets, I'm just always happy to pet or cuddle them and it's not a bother to me, if someone else has a problem with it I correct my dogs because I don't think everyone has to feel the same about my dogsšŸ˜‚
Aaaaaand probably the most controversial thing is letting my dogs sit at the table... The little one specifically likes to sit behind me in my chair and lean on my back, or he sits next to me on the bench and sleeps with his head on my leg, usually he sleeps under my chair though, he never tries to take my food and he seems rather uncomfortable if I offer him food unless he's on the groundšŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜‚

So yeah, clearly my dogs are bad by most people's standards, lmk if you see something extremely problematic that I don't. I try to make sure my dogs aren't a nuisance to others but sometimes because I allow these things I have to tell people to tell my dogs no or I have to tell the dogs myself that they can't cuddle or beg for food from others and I redirect the dog (outside, chew toy, pets from me etc).
Gosh I hope none of this translates into me being a gentle parent someday and raising a brat šŸ˜‚

We have a border collie and corgi. Both are very well behaved and take care of monitoring our yard for predators and chasing them back into the woods or fields. The predators are usually deer coming for my hostas lol, but there's been worse here by far!

I should note that both went through Good Citizen training, an 8-week course, once per week, when they were puppies.

Those who know me know I’m obsessed with having well behaved dogs, and you basically just summed up my dog. Except the begging, I do not allow that, and running out doors without permission, other than that… I guess I have a bad dog too šŸ¤”. All I care about is that he stops any of those given behaviors immediately when told.

My current dog is a dingbat. I love her but she is MY dog. Meaning she will knock over a small child to get to me. So she is not allowed on furniture, I mostly pet her when the kids are petting her and I have the kids feed and give her treats. I had a dog that absolutely had to have restrictions in place because he didn’t understand his role in life and he was a big, scary dude. Some things are ok when you have kids (like dogs that eat people food off the floor); some things are not (dogs that jump up on people or furniture).
