Would you like the famous White leghorn or the Rhode island red?. Its a battle of the layers

I cast for White Leghorn, but what exactly is the goal of the battle of layers

Are you looking at temperament, productivity, etc.?

I have not had any RIR so can't speak from personal experience on those, but White Leghorns are great little gals, friendly, good layers and fun to watch.

Wow that was a hard decision! I have both and love them. Honestly If I had to pick I would say white leghorns because mine layed pretty much everyday and she was never broody, just overall both are great breeds.

I personally like red island reds because they are loving birds and are good egg layers.

My mom kept a flock of each when I was growing up. I remember the leghorns being a little more friendly and having more personality. Both were great layers. But this was back in the late 70s/early 80s when RIRs were true. I kind of question what that breed has become. Both roosters however (1 RIR 1 WL) were SO MEAN! I remember many a time getting flogged by each one!
