Poll: Do your chickens like the rain?

Mine seem to tolerate it as well, we just had a "100" year storm here and I was at home the whole time and the chickens were out in all of it but the heaviest of downpours.

I can't get mine to go inside! It must be the ducks. Those bad influences. The silkies get this weird mohawk thing when they get wet, then they stick thier heads in the feed and then they have yellow spikes!

It is so ugly but cute.

Depends on the temperature, number of days of rain and degree of boredom. They stay out unless it pours and then they hang on the porch waiting to harvest bugs. If we are having several days of rain/snow, I open the run and they are free to come and go. My Cuckoo Marans taught the other girls to go out in the rain to eat worms, and she is always the first one out. She is so sunbleached right now that she looks brown and gold, will be nice to see her fresh colors after her molt.

My older ladies are a bunch of princesses and HATE getting wet. They scream bloody murder at the sky when it rains. My younger group has yet to actually see rain- we've been having a drought this summer. I am curious to see how they will react.

I think mine like it. Once when they were out free ranging and it started to rain, they grouped together and just stood out in it. They had lots of choices to get out of it (under my truck, into the barn, into their coop) but just stood there looking around. I usually won't let them out when it is going to rain though just so I won't have to round them up in the rain.

With mine, it depends on how hard it's raining and the temperature. With a light rain in warm weather, they'll often be out foraging for worms, with their beaks covered in mud. They don't like downpours, hard driving rain or cold rain in almost freezing weather. In the summer, they'll often take shelter out in the yard. If it's really cold or windy, they prefer to just go back to the coop. In nasty weather, they often hang out in the coop and look out the pop door or the windows. Just like me!

My chickens hate the rain. They will stand under the pickup truck all day if they have to. Except the roosters won't, I don't think they fit under the truck. They could all go under the deck but I think the deck has too many drippy leaks for them. Their coop is dry, but they'd rather stand under the truck or get wet than go back in the coop - must remind them of bedtime. Ha.

Most of my chickens love the rain as it brings up the bugs, worms and snails in the grass. They go on a feeding frenzy. A couple of the smaller ones run for cover. If it were a cold rain I assume they would all run for cover.
