I have to assume that a Johnny Roscoe is a firearm of some sort. I've been associated with guns for many years and have never heard that term. To the OP, please clarify.

I have a tactical 12 gauge with 3" 00 buckshot right nest to the bed. It is much more effective for home defense than anything else.

Back in the hey-day of the gangster era hand guns were called many names such as heater, rod and johnny roscoe. If you have ever seen the movie with Tom Hanks, "Hooch", Tom goes into a rage after the dog trashes his house and goes for his gun and calls it by some of these names, although I don't think he mentions johnny roscoe. Some do just call it roscoe.
