This is so neat!

And I'm so jealous. I have blue jays, crows, and ravens that I love because they keep tabs on the hawks. But my chickens are terrified of them and they never get this close. Mostly they hang out in my neighbor's horse field. Crows are super smart and have been known to show empathy, so I'm not surprised that your rooks are accepting of their friends with extra needs. I don't know anything about rooks but they're in the genus Corvus with the crows. Where do you live?
i live in ireland. i am pretty sure rooks are just giant crows 😂 i have noticed that since the chickens came along and i am not catering to the crows as much, they don't come as close. the jackdaws will come pretty close, but the crows wait, i think, to see if i do anything to the jackdaws before they swoop down.
i don't give them as much to eat since the chickens came either, but i do occasionally (some peanuts today) so they're not that impressed with me anymore.
the neighbours keep them fat with bread though.

my chickens (2) just decided one day to live here. they escaped from a neighbour down the road. he gave up trying to catch them, i guess, and said i could keep them. they had started laying eggs here and everything. they were surviving by foraging (of course) and on the bread the neighbours throw out to the crows, i'd say. so maybe that's why they aren't afraid of them. they had to get in there and get that bread to fill their bellies. they probably noticed that the crows were like "huh?!" and backing away from them. so the chickens will charge right up to the crows to scare them away from any food. it's kinda funny.

I always try to befriend the crows around my house, but they never seem to be around when I'm out, and gone by the time I notice they are! When I was a kid, I did manage to tame chickadees and titmice to eat out of my hand.
they have lookouts! at least one on every roof! even when i think there aren't any around, and i throw some food out, one comes cawing and the next thing, there's 40 of em! 😂

i never tamed any creature besides these two feral chickens 😂
what did you do to tame the chickadees and titmice?

As for the cactus…it still has green! I think of myself as having a green thumb, but I can’t keep orchids or succulents alive too long. I overlove them. 🥹
i have killed so many houseplants, i'm embarrassed to say. i think most houseplants were given to me as gifts, and i have killed almost all. i guess people think since i have a garden that i would take care of houseplants? 😂

i am going to make today's picture the crow presents.
i keep them in my dying cactus's pot. please don't judge me for neglecting my houseplants. i have a big veg garden outside to make up for it 😂

i'm sure there's been stones and sticks left as gifts, but not so obvious (or pretty) as these 😊
Wow, how cool is that?
