polly tunnel

I have been gifted by a mate of mine 15ftx8ft polly tunnel
with a full door at each end the tunnel is about 7ft high
can i use the green cover it comes with it has 6 vents
or should I cover with hardware/wellded mesh

It depends a lot on what predators are going to want chicken for dinner.
Personally I think it is a wonderful gift. I would use it and add some welded wire on the inside to keep critters from breaking and entering.

If i am going to cover my polly tunnel in wellded mesh should i go for 1inch x 0.5 16g

I would go for 1/2 " hardware cloth. That will keep mice and mink/weasels out.

We have the tiniest mice here. They go right through the 1/2 by 1/2 cloth. Personally strength is important to keep the larger more damaging things out. I would use the stronger wire. But that is just me.
