Pond Visitors

They have overtaken a pond close to me and they can't make them go away. They have attacked campers. They make such a mess you can't even walk around the pound. I have managed to keep them out of mine. Ohio has Posted ways to protect your self and your pond.

WRONG!!! CANADA GEESE!!!! lolz sorry, just always wanted to say that lol

i used to call em canadian geese but then my science teacher said they were named after some dude with the last name canada lol

Thanks everyone. The pond does attract quite a few different animals throughout the year. However, these geese have chased off several other ducks that live here year round. The geese don't stay here long... a day here and there... then the ducks come back.

These are actually pretty large... I took the pictures from the deck, they made it pretty clear while I was feeding the ducks that, that area was their zone and I needed to back away! LOL

I think they are beautiful birds though... definitely nice to watch... I wish I could find the pictures of the herons that came to visit each morning over the summer.... (nothing like watching the wildlife from the deck with a nice cup of coffee in the morning.)

I dont know if you can see them real well but over the fall and into this winter we had 5 female and 5 male Mallard ducks fly into our pond. I tried throwing bread to them but they were a little skiddish. I am now wondering if they were the previous owner's ducks? He had all kinds of poultry.

I love our Canada geese! They come around this time of year and hang out through the spring until their babies are ready to go! My domestic goose, Gretchen brings them up quite close to my house..some stand on the front porch with her!
I like to think of Gretchen as a tour guide. They come in and she goes over, chit chats with them, then she shows them around. They stay right with her.
Hubby and I counted 35 of them yesterday, the norm is about 60-70. There are some missing this year...(
We do have a very special Canada named Angel. Angel has angel wing, hence the name, but she has lived here for over 4 years! Usually she is in a safe pasture up the road with excellent fencing, but recently she escaped and comes here with Gretchen from time to time. She is special to me )
