Pondhawk

I got this Orpington rooster last year in hope that I would get some Orpington\Old English Game chicks. Well, this year I got 1 chick out of the all of the chicks that hatched.
My Orpington is named Meadowhawk after the Cherry Faced Meadowhawk dragonflies that often fall prey to the chickens.
This one Orpington cross chick that hatched is very special. I named him Pondhawk (another dragonfly species). He's a month old now.

I love Orpingtons! I have two Buffs, two "self-blue" (which is lavender to my eyes), and for Easter hatched a couple black, two more lavenders, and a pair of Lemon Cuckoo - from eggs I bought from a breeder here on BYC.

They are part of my fairly large, mixed flock of a whole bunch of breeds.

My next favorite breed is Australorp, which is a related breed.
