pool sizes

My ducks do the same thing. I never thought they would when I purchased the pool. I wanted something deep enough for them to dive in. The steps have grooves in them so that is easy. The top is flat, but it does seem to work with their feet. They usually sit up there and preen until someone else wants the top and nips the butt of the one standing there. Then it is either slide or jump into the water. Mine do both.

We've had ducks for a few years now and have kept using the smallest of the pools because it's so hard to dump out. Never would have thought to put in a drain! Haha, no idea where our minds have been!

I use a small hose to siphon out my large pools. It takes a little time, but is easier on the back and the pools last longer. I put the hose in the pool a little at a time so that it fills with water. Once the hose has sunk to the bottom I hold a finger over one end and place it on the ground and the water drains out.

I have either the medium kiddie pool, or a large without the slide. It's big enough for 5-6 of the ducks to fit in at one time, with a little bit of room. I can't believe how dirty it gets, though. We dump it every other day.

We will be expanding the pen from 25ft x 25ft to 25ft x 50ft and are thinking about digging a larger pond for them---but cleaning would be extremely hard, I'd think.

Does anyone have an actual pond that sits into the ground? How do you go about keeping it somewhat clean?

I've put decks up.

Hard plastic pools seem to be out of stock everywhere - end of summer, even if it is still 90 here lol

Any reason something like this wouldn't work

if you put a layer of pea gravel or something on the bottom to protect the lining from nails? I figure the duck poop would collect between stones, but we have a python for cleaning the fish tank, so was thinking that could be used to clean the bottom 1x a week or so.

Go to your local hardware store- and 9 times out of 10 they will have the pools in storage. I did this just a few weeks ago when everyone else had run out of them.

You do have to ask for them.

Go to the customer service counter and have them check the computer on which store may have it near by. They can then transfer the product to their store as a customer order you put in at that point. Doesn't cost you a thing and they may have it in 2 days. Otherwise they have to order it through their distribution system and it may take a week. Next year you buy an extra pool just in case.
