Poop "Board" Question

there in lies your potential problem, which way they face. Remember, they're chickens so they don't live by the same rules as us. What we think is the correct way to do something is not what they think it is.

You will probably find they face in both directions on both roosts.

Guess I'll be moving both roosts back and fully over the pans!

Good idea! And I think after you've had to deal with those three pans with poo stuck all over the edging, you'll get rid of them and opt for a single pan....and don't forget to try that PDZ.....awesome stuff!!

I too use cookie pans, filled with sand as easily cleaned poop trays. The attached pic shows the usual accumulation for one night's roosting for my six pullets (14 weeks old). By the way the newspaper on the coop floor has not been changed for the last 3 days. Check out how clean it is. Clean up is incredibly easy and I clean the coop each morning. The coop is essentially a cube approximately 4x4x4.

The pullets are kept in a portable run during daylight hours and cooped for the night.

... maybe it's just me. But I don't see the reasoning for using those cookie sheets at all. If you were to put down a remnant piece of linoleum to fit inside your poop tray, then pour PDZ in there you will be AMAZED at the difference and quick cleanups...just me thinkin...always a bad thing...sigh...

Easy clean up. I just scoop up the droppings and run sand and poop through a sieve and return the cleaned sand to the tray. No wasted sand. A single cookie sheet would be best, but these were free. Poop is nice and dry and doesn't stick to the sides of the sheets. Multiple pans use because of: size of cookie sheets and also weight of sheet when filled with sand.

Yup, I'm staying with the three smaller sheets. I'm an old bugger and lighter is better. :-)

Iwiw60,

Do your six birds all fit on one 4 foot roost then?
