Poop board. Yes or no

I am getting the coop ready for the ladies. Currently I’m chick-less but will be picking them up next weekend as babies.
So I’ve seen videos of coops with poop boards located under the roost that catch the poops and, I guess keeps the floor of the coop cleaner.
Can anyone tell me if this is worth doing or not. Does it eliminate work or make for more work?
Thanks

Makes 'more' daily work(about 5-10 minutes) but worth it to me as the floor shavings last much longer, air quality better, poop goes to friends compost.

What kind of bedding you use may depend on how you manage the manure.
This is about cleaning, but covers my big picture
-I use poop boards under roosts with thin(<1/2") layer of sand/PDZ mix, sifted daily(takes 5-10mins) into bucket going to friends compost.
-Scrape big or wet poops off roost and ramps as needed.
-Pine shavings on coop floor, add some occasionally, totally changed out once or twice a year, old shavings added to run.
- My runs have semi-deep litter(cold composting), never clean anything out, just add smaller dry materials on occasion, add larger wood chippings as needed.
Aged ramial wood chippings are best IMO.
-Nests are bedded with straw, add some occasionally, change out if needed(broken egg).
There is no odor, unless a fresh cecal has been dropped and when I open the bucket to add more poop.
That's how I keep it 'clean', have not found any reason to clean 'deeper' in 5 years.

Thanks. I found a 12” wide shelf at Home Depot that has some type of Formica or melamine surface. It was in their “cull” rack so I bought it for $1.00 I’ll try to get it installed since I’m all about keeping things clean ( as possible) for the hens and myself.

What are you using the shelf for?
A poop board should be about 24" wide with the roost centered along it's width.

Didn’t know it had to be so wide. So you need 12” on one side of the roost and a similar amount on the other side.
Well I guess I’ll use this board as a shelf somewhere in my house.

Yes. This is what my boards look like in use. You want to keep the roost at least a foot from the wall and you need about that much on the other side to catch everything. You can see where some deposits land pretty close to the edge.

What size is your coop? Do you keep feeder or water inside? Do you have a picture to show where your nest box is located? I love your set up!

Cut the bottoms off your feed bags and use them as mini dropcloths under your perches. Dump the manure into a feedbag to age and spray the bags off with the hose, under a tree.
