Poop Boards

Absolutely the 2 best things I’ve added to the coop to make my chicken maintenance easier. Poop boards with pdz and barn lime, I tried sand at first but after a couple weeks the sand started to smell. Pdz last forever without any smell, just scoop it out with kitty litter scoop. Have saved so much on shavings on the floor became there is minimal manure there.
Next is the trough feeder made out of pvc. Ive not had to clean out a feeder since installed. They don’t kick shavings in it and no waste at all. No more multiple feeders to ensure everyone get feed because one chicken chases another away or one doesn’t want to eat next to another one, they all have space to eat together.

I was thinking of making something similar for serving fermented feed. Looks like you have a mix of bantam and standard breeds. what size pvc are you using?
They are all bantams. We used 3” because that what we had but the instructions called for 4”. My husband marked it at 12 o’clock and 3 o’clock, chalk lined the length, cut and sanded a bit to smooth the edges.

Have you had any issues with them pooping in it?? I'm interested in having this in my coop, but wondering if they will stand and poop in it.

I have something kind of similar in my coop. But it’s completely closed. I used a 2” (next we will use 3 or 4”) pvc pipe cut about 2’. I kept the pvc whole and added a 45° angle elbow at the bottom with a cap ontop. It sits vertical instead of horizontal. I prefer my method over the horizontal one because i found my chickens (at least) would kick shavings into it.
