Hi there I just wanted to see if anyone knew about chicken poop and if this was normal?
My buff is 2 years old and in a molt currently.
Lost a little weight but we figured from the molt.
Healthy appetite and drinking water.
Not laying.
Odd poop for 2 days.
We were trying to bring her in for a fecal float but they want to charge $200 and we just had a ton of vet bills. Any advice would be great thanks!

What is it you see that you think is odd?

They look slightly dry I suppose. Is she drinking well? Access to grit?

Molting birds usually go off their feed or are picky about what they want, you can add some poultry vitamins to her water for a couple of days to help give her a boost.

The vet price is absolutely ridiculous!

Thanks you! Gave her som additive vitamins today. I was worried because it looks like traces of blood in her poops for two days. Wasn’t sure if it could be possible signs of cocci

It looks like it has a lot of fiber (grass) in it, and it looks a little dry. Can you post a picture of a really fresh pile?
I’ll try and follow her a bit that was what I caught last night. Seems like small traces of blood for the last two days

:old I don't have chickens as pets, but they are more than just farm animals. I don't bring my small animals to a vet for anything. You can buy a lot of young, healthy, $3 chicks for that one $200 vet bill. I basically concentrate on the basics with fresh feed and water and keeping the coop clean. After that, I hope the chickens will take care of themselves - with rare exceptions.

As for the poo, I agree that it looks dry. Maybe ensure good access to water and that the bird(s) are drinking. I always have extra grit available 24/7. Any change in diet lately? Free ranging more than usual? Agree that it looks like a lot of grass in poo.

Do you have any Corid? You could try giving some Corid. Worming her might be a good idea too.
Yeah I have corrid for cocci and valbazen for worming. Just wasn’t sure if it would be okay or safe because the ones with the weird poop are molting.
