Poop ID, Please....Well, maybe poop

It looks like some kind of injury, maybe internal injury, like those bloody eggs you see turn up in here once in a while, maybe the egg broke inside and was being passed and you know how gross chickes can sometimes be, they will eat that shell..so no trace of that ..its interesting..hope it clears up..I would note who is roosting right at that spot if you can..When things happen here, I have been out at night with my flashlight to see whos here or there and to catch hens for the breeding coops ect...might find the culprit..

Nothing unusual except that my banty Cochin, who was eggbound yesterday but passed it when we got her inside, laid an egg early today in the pen, then later, she was sitting on a nest. Thought she was going broody, but doesn't act like it. She got off, then again, got back on and sat awhile. I wonder if it was her rather than Tasha. No signs of anything and I've checked her vent in case she prolapsed but nada. I'm leaning toward it being Shadow at this point. She doesn't seem to be feeling well, not her usual perky self.

Boy I hope you can find out exactly which one it is..sadly sometimes they can be egg bound deep inside where you cant really get at it or see it ..the pressure of her body may have crunched it , that could be why she is uncomfortable and shedding some blood.. If an eggbound passed it then she will be fine but probably sore ..those things are so scarey. maybe a little oil wwould help things on down the pipes..not sure what you prefer, corn oil or sunflower .sure wouldnt hurt much

I'd go ahead and worm them all again...especially the youngsters who were never wormed yet. It still could be cocci from the young ones too but without any listlessness or puffing up I doubt that. You may never find out who did it.

I think early spring is rough on hens, especially if they haven't been laying through the winter.
I've had some get on and off the nest alot without laying an egg, but I think its because their egg-laying equipment is just revving up and maybe
giving them some false signals.
I've also noticed alot of diarrhea when they're thinking about laying again.
I know this doesn't address your problem, but thought I'd throw it in here. I guess I was thinking that the hen of yours that's getting
on and off the nest alot, might not be the one with the problem.....

Saw a little stuff that looked like intestinal lining, nothing like the stuff that prompted this thread. I added Corid to the water in that coop, just on the outside chance that it was cocci presenting in an unusual way.

Shadow, the banty Cochin, hasn't laid an egg in three days, which is highly unusual for her-she is a very good layer. I tend to think this came from her since it was underneath her special separate roost, but it was also on the short ramp the old ladies use to walk up to the first roost rung, so not necessarily Shadow's problem. The Delaware pullet has been on and off the nest numerous times and no more eggs from her, so I am still not sure of anything at this point. Haven't seen any worms in anyone's poop at all, either, and those round balls just don't say worms to me.

Do you ever think that the chickens do this kind of thing to keep us on our toes. I swear some of mine figure out ways to drive me crazy. Like act this way maybe we can get some treats.. Make a big noise maybe she will come out and give us something good to eat. I swear they try my patience some days. When they do that loud there is a big predator around and I go running out side and they all shut up and look at me like what we didn't do anything

Hope all your hens are doing okay.

I recently thought one of my 2 year old hens had a yeast infection. I gave her yogurt and bathed her and rubbed monistat on her tush but she didn't get better. Brought her to the vet and she did have cocci. I was floored. I thought it was only a chick disease. She tested negative for worms and the Doc told me to treat the whole flock with Corrid. She's back to normal.

schellie69....are your chickens talking to my chickens? My girls get eggbound or get a little cut or act sick only at nights and on weekends. Last night I had a hen sitting under a bush all by herself with her tail down looking like the end of the world was here. I checked her over 100 times, couldn't find anything wrong and put her on the roost with the other drama queens. This morning she was just fine.
