This girl had sour crop last week which I restricted food and gave her monistat (Miconazole 7) for 3 days. She seemed fine. Now her poop is green. Both poops came from her. Is is heat exhaustion as we are in ENC with temps over 100° or is it illness? Should I treat with corid?

Hi,

Green poop can indicate emaciation caused from your treating her for her crop.

If she had blood in her poop and was acting lethargic, then I might suggest treating her with Corid but not for just green poop. That should clear up as she eats more.

How old is she? Does she lay eggs yet? Green droppings are usually because she is not getting enough food, and that may happen if the crop is not emptying. I would check her crop each morning first thing before she eats or drinks. Let us know if it feels empty, full and firm, or puffy/squishy. Sour crop is a puffy crop that does not empty overnight, and may have a sour or bad odor from the beak. I would continue the miconazole 1/2 inch orally twice a day. Is she eating some watery egg or a bit of chicken feed made wet with water?
