poop problems

IF the older ones are only 13 weeks old , TRUST ME, they will NOT lay while you are gone on vacation . I have 28 pullets ALL 17 - 18 weeks old , ( rir's , black asutralorps , and barred rocks ) and NONE are laying YET . Have they started showing signs YET ? COMBS and wattles getting bigger and red ? squatting and SQUACKING ???? Messing around the nesting boxes as if they want to jump in ? re-arranging pine shavings in the NESTING BOXES ?
Where are ya'll headed and gone for how long ? HOPE you have someone you can trust to care for them while you gone .

Out of four different breeds of chicks my Blk Australorps were the only ones that got pasty butt. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. I ran their little backsides under running lukewarm water and this softened it and got it right off. Dried them off and they were just fine.

No problems after the first 3 days.

If it keeps happening, any food oil (olive, canola, peanut... etc) or vaseline on those little bottoms will lube them up and prevent the pasty bums from returning.
