Okay - This is the only place I won’t be judged asking about chicken poop. LOL! So - with that said - my buff Orpington hasn’t started laying yet but has super red comb and waddle. Today she pooped out some weird stuff. When I picked her up and checked her, her underside at the back feels a little puffy and soft. I didn’t know if this is due to an immature egg hung in her tract or not. I have given her an epsom salt soak. My question is if any of you chicken experts out in chicken land have ever seen poop like the picture below? It kind of looks like it is albumin and itty bitty pieces of yolk. That is just my uneducated guess. Curious to hear what you folks say. 🤷🏻‍♀️🐔

Let's get @Eggcessive and @casportpony to take a look as well.

Normally a pullet or hen that is having trouble with an egg will isolate themselves, have their tail down and may seen "off" or lethargic. Did she exhibit any of those symptoms?

For me, it's really hard to tell about the poop - looks like it fell off a stick and we are only see a little bit of it - was there more than that?

It looks like there are some milky urates (kidney waste) and some solid poo in the droppings. I am not sure what is going on. You can get some dropping checked by a local vet for parasites to rule that out. From the pic, it doesn’t look like a burst egg, but I might be wrong. Usually, that causes bright orange yolk and thick albumen.

She acts just fine. The rest of the deposit ended up on my Wellies. The bulk of what she expelled was like egg white - clear/little milky and then there was small little yellowish bits in that. It wasn’t just water. I checked her crop to see if it could be that. The thing that confused me was number 1 - the consistency of the poop and number 2 - the full feeling of her underside. I picked up one of the other girls to see if maybe I was just being an over protective chicken mom. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I also looked at what was left on the perch branch with a magnifying glass to be sure there wasn’t a problem with parasites. Maybe I am just over reacting... I don’t know. New mother syndrome. 🙄

The poop is abnormal, but does not look like any part of the egg. Can you stick her in a crate on towels, then get pictures of her poop from a 24 hour period?
Good suggestion. I’ll try that. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

Thanks! I’ll isolate her and see if the crazy poop continues.

Thanks! I’ll isolate her and keep an eye on her. I’ll let you folks know how it turns out. 🥰
