My hen had a prolapsed vent today, but I was easily able to push it back in. My brother noticed this on the floor, what is it?? It's small, fleshy, and squishy. I'm not sure if it's a lash egg because of how red it looks. It kinda looks like a fetus but I don't have any roosters.

I would be just guessing, but it appears to me to be tissue sloughed off from inside the oviduct.

If your hen is continuing to prolapse after passing that, it means there is likely more material that she's trying to push out. I'd like for you to read this as it will save me a ton of typing, and then we can have a platform to dive into this from where we're both on the same page. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...ed-egg-hanging-from-vent-prolapse-oh-my-what-

You will need to rustle up a calcium supplement and give it to her right now. I like calcium citrate as it works fastest, but Tums will do. Stuff it directly into her beak, the whole tablet. She will swallow it easily.

I'm also going to make the call that she should be put on an oral antibiotic immediately as it appears she's ripe for infection from whatever is going on inside her reproductive tract. Do you have an antibiotic on hand? Penicillin or something similar?

Hi it looks like it's a worm and the birds been calcium or oyster shells it's a soft egg I wouldn't eat that egg
