Pooping in the drinking water

I have a metal double wall waterer in my run. I have one chicken that insists on sitting up on top but then she's constantly pooping in the water. Any ideas on what I can do to stop her? It's about to turn really cold in Iowa and I really don't want to be cleaning it multiple times a day.

Can you put the waterer close to a wall and attach slanted piece of plywood to the wall to prevent her from roosting?

I've done this before, I used hinges to attach it so I could lift it to get the waterer out easier. And then it also will lay flat against the wall when not in use or while I'm fill the waterer.
