I like the vaseline idea. I'm having trouble chasing 31 chicks around and not catching the same ones over and over. Only 5 days old and they can sure sprint around their brooder!

I like the vaseline idea. I'm having trouble chasing 31 chicks around and not catching the same ones over and over. Only 5 days old and they can sure sprint around their brooder!
Luckily mine are no longer having pasty butts. Since I have more than 80 I gently moved them all to one half of the brooder, then stuck a big piece of card board in the middle to divide it. Then as i checked each butt, I could just place the checked ones all on one side. I had my kids helping me so we had sort of an assembly line going.
