Poopy Butt

I have a couple of chickens who seem to have a poopy butt. i watched one poop yesterday and it was runny. what can i do to stop the poop being runny and sticking to the feather because i cant give them a bath everyday

What all and how exactly are you feeding now?

Best way to eliminate poop sticking to feathers is to trim the poopy feathers off to about 1/2" from skin.

I had a chicken with poopy butt before. Like @aart said, I would trim their feathers about 1/2 an inch from their skin. That should keep poop from sticking to their butt, mostly. Then, I tried soaking the chickens butt with a warm washcloth, and that got the rest of it out. Try giving them baths when you can, and best of luck!

it did work on the others, the rhode island ended up dying and continually was having this issue

Aww im sorry about the Rhode Island Red. Did she have sour crop by any chance though? Ill have to trim up their butt fluff now. As their poop isnt runny but does get stuck to the fluff. Thank you though!
