Poopy Chicken Butts!!!

I have noticed my hens have some poopy-ish butts. It's not so much they can't poop more poop out, or lay a egg, it just looks dirty. Should I try to clean them? If so, how should I? I have heard of people cutting off their poopy butt feathers, but im not sure how and i don't want to hurt them. Help please?

Cutting feathers can cause unwanted blood loss. I would suggest either leaving them alone or get a towel wet with warm water. Hold it over their rears until it is soft enough to wipe away. I have use the towel trick before. It works.

I have one hen with poopy butt. I either wash it off, or it is easier to trim the fluff around her butt. I have never had any bleeding. I think that might be less of an issue with the butt fluff, rather than the bigger flight feathers.

It is a good idea to get it off, the ammonia can burn the skin.

I have read a lot of posts where people trim the fuzz on the back just fine without any problems.
