This little chick is off to a rough start. My son’s friend noticed that this little one was not with the others and when he picked her(?) up her butt was super poopy. We cleaned her butt off and trimmed some feathers and it kind of looked low her rectum was sticking out a bit? We put her in a box with a lamp, water, and food. I’ve had to clean her butt twice. There are a lot of brown spots on the paper towels in he box which I attache a pic below. Can she be saved? I don’t know for sure what’s wrong with her.

Good you put this chick in another spot to heal. Don’t have high hopes. I think its worth it to give it a try to let it heal over time. Keep it clean and give some sand in a bowl. Maybe it helps to clean the inside too.

I’m no expert in such matters. More/better advice is welcome.

Just thinking mushy chick. I had one with (expected) that. She survived and is now a lovely pullet. I had to wipe the area with iodine twice a day, keep on top of pasty butt and give encouragement to eat. As well I gave her chick vits and electrolytes to boost her and some scrambled eggs for food.
