Poor baby...My Silkie...WHYYYYY......UPDATE

Ol'FashionHen :

Oh thanks for the love and prayers guys, I just love y'all

. My DH keeps telling me we don't need another coop just for two silkies, I tell him they are too sweet to be with the others. They all have been co-inhabitating for....goodness since the 4th of July weekend they were all around 5-8 weeks in age and never a problem before. My DH will NOT admit it because he is a manly man ya know, but the silkies are his favorite and he says we need to cull the EE roo and put the silkie roo back in there and I will still have one roo.

, I would prefer to keep my EE roo, my DH just doesn't like how the EE roo is bossy and is always chasing the girls around (he thiks he should be a gentleman about the ladies), he is a young roo. I do enjoy watching him do a dance around Bernedette to woo her, she looks at him like "whatever" (on her high horse)

. I believe when I get home I will put his wife with him. She is laying she just recently started laying so I will need to figure if he really needs the meds or not, would a terrimyicin shot be better than giving it to him in the water?

I would put his lady friend with him. As for another coop for only 2 Silkies. Here is what I did. I purchased a couple of Silkies, then used them as an excuse to build the Silkie Chalet. And of course when I built it, I built it bigger than for just 2, so of course, I got a couple more silkies and a couple of cochin bantams also.

Ol'FashionHen :

Oh no we got chicks it was neosporin with pain relief is that the bad stuff NOOOOO!!!

.

If it hasn't hurt him yet, then you may be okay. Just don't use it any more. A very knowledgable lady on BYC, SpeckledHen, had a rooster die because the neosporin had benzocaine or lidocaine or something like that in it.

But, like I said, if he's still okay then I'd just wipe off the current meds and put some on without the pain reliever.

Whenever I can get him to drink some water he wheezes a lot but only when he drinks, and when he breathes his chest gets large...please can any one that has more experience with chickens and these circumstances give me any direction as to what to do or what may be wrong. I put his lady in with him but he still just hangs his head down, but still is preening and crowing.
