Just thought I'd share the story of my hen, Gwarp. She was hatched with one other chick in an incubator that had a lot of temp issues and other problems. Gwarpy-pie was adorable, but obviously something was wrong. She had a slightly crooked face, an exposed naval, tumbled around with wide steps, and didn't figure out how to drink or eat till almost the third day after her hatch. Luckily, Gwarp grew out of a lot of her problems, and her face looks almost normal. But there are still plenty of things wrong with poor Gwarp. Her head is too small and her comb never grew. Her crop is in the wrong spot so it blows up like a balloon. She lays sporadically and her eggs are bizarre shapes. And most importantly, she "sees" things other hens can't see. She pecks for HOURS at one random spot, when literally nothing is there. Typically it's a wall. Despite all this, Gwarpy is one of our sweetest birds. She's very independent and is the leader of the group. She also has the most common sense, and can figure out how to get to secret hiding spots none of the other birds can reach. And best of all, she'll stretch out in my lap and roll over to absorb the sunshine. This bird really is living the life. So remember everyone, don't let your flaws hold you back! If Gwarp can live like a princess with her tiny scrambled head, so can you (although hopefully you don't peck at walls)! I've included some nice inspirational pictures of my silly hen. Guess which bird is normal, and which one is Gwarp. And then guess which egg is
Gwarps too, because it won't be that hard (hint: it's the pointy white one).
