Hi there!
I am about to get serious with separating at least 2 of my bantams from the rest of the flock. 18 total hens, 6 are bantams.
The smallest gets "beat up" most every day. So I am going to put her in a temporary pen inside the big coop.
My question is. I have a mini coop that is in a spot that I hope to fence in better for the bantams. It has 3 nest boxes and is about 4' tall on that side. Only across the top of the boxes is vented. My plan is to let them be out in their own run while the big girls get the rest of the yard. How should I get more ventilation in there. Or do I need it.
This is it with the white roof, which raises and is very heavy. The nests are in the back with the one vent.
This is the inside with one mama bantam (the chicks are most of the large breeds we have)
It shows the "window".
It also has not been used for over 1 1/2 year. Since it is so small the winter dampness may be a problem. Any thoughts on the flooring since it is not easy to clean. I plan to put plastic pans under the roost.
Thank you for your thoughts. Sorry I'm rambling.
Have a good evening.
