Poor roosting choice - okay for winter?

Thank you Everyone!! I am going to wire that space off and add in a higher roost of different material than the 2x4. We’ll see how it goes!!!

There are 2 x 3’s at Lowes that work well for me. I shaved two top edges off so the sharp edges won’t dig into the chicken’s feet.
