I know this site is for chickens but for this case I hope you guys can help.
I live in Alaska and had a batch of duckling hatch and we brought all the eggs inside. We think that because of the temperature increase the eggs that showed no signs of hatching started prematurely.
This little guy has been hanging on for 2 days now and I have vitamin/electrolyte water that I’ve been trying to feed him but he hardly drinks. Also he’s still attached to the egg which looks like it’s starting to decompose. I’m afraid that if he doesn’t get detached he’ll get an infection. I’ve recently got a poultry wound spray that I hope will help.
does anyone have any advise on how to get it to drink and whether I should cut it from the egg or leave it?

Yeah I suppose it is lol. I’ve put corn starch on the cord to hopefully dry it up and have it disconnect on it’s own.
