Hi to all,

I am in need of some opinions and advice. My flock is currently all Welsummers. One hen has very 'washed out' colourings and lays blue white eggs! i think of her nearly as a albino. She has always been bottom of the pecking order. Sometimes not really in with the rest of the troop, off doing her own thing. She is 1 y/o and normally a great layer. last week she stopped laying. Then i found her in the corner of my yard on her own (nothing strange) but not doing much. Looking very sullen. Next day she didn't leave the hen house. i got her out and the other hens and rooster had a real go at her, leading me to believe she is sick or bullied to the point she has given up. I say bullied, normally she is put in her place but its rarely overly aggressive or persistent. Its never been anything i was overly concerned about. So i removed her from my yard and brought her into the garden. set her down and she just stands there. no scratching/pecking etc. i have recently hatched a new batch so the brooder was available. i popped her in there and gave her food/water. little interest. She is behaving as if she has suddenly gone blind. although her pupils are contracting/dilating. Eyes appear fine, no other injuries, she seems clumsy, unsure and not interested in anything. dipped her beak in water she drank, dipped her beak in layer pellets, she ate. but then stops and just stands or perches. she is aware of my presence as if i get close she can walk away, cluck or even fly. but she can walk into a bush! I really have no idea. any thoughts much appreciated. PS i'm in Ireland

Can you post a video of this behavior?

Definitely good that you isolated her. Is she walking around at all?
hi and thanks for the reply, unfortunately i had to dispatch the poor girl. She wasn't eating and only drank if i dipped her beak first. such a shame. My best guess is a stroke leading to impairment. Visually she looked fine, lights were on but no one home.
