Poorly warren hen - is it just old age?

We have a warren hen, she was three years old last August. She seemed quite lethargic over winter and has had some weird droppings which smelt like bad egg. She made it through the winter though (it's spring now - northern England). She seemed okay for a while, but now she seems really poorly.
We've separated her from our other hens. She's very lethargic, hunched up and her tail is down all the time. Today my husband lifted her out of her little coop into the run so that she could sit in the sunshine and noticed that her claws are curled up, so she can't stand properly.
Is it probably just old age? We feel really sorry for her. We've had hens die in the past, but this seems much more prolonged.
We'd be glad of any thoughts or advice, thanks.

It might be a reproductive issue that is putting pressure on her abdomen and leg nerves (sciatic.) Salpingitis and internal laying can cause masses inside the abdomen, and egg yolk peritonitis can be a result. It is hard to know exactly until after death when a necropsy can be performed. I would try to make her as comfortable as possible, offer her some wet feed and cooked egg or tuna, and perhaps give some vitamins. If you haven’t wormed her, that might help. If she doesn’t get better, you might need to help end her misery.
