I used to live there too. I wasn't into chickens then, so i didnt pay much attention. although, riding on the fietspad in the country i was always afraid of the wild boars! I was amazed at the frequency of stolen bikes! i always locked mine up good, but then again it was old and rusty so it wasnt worth the effort.

Boars? Really? You must have lived around Gelderland/Overijssel (veluwe) because I cannot recall ever having seen any boars. Plenty of chickens though, including a neighbors flock of Dutch banties that preferred my trees to roost in over his. (and I did not even reap the profits, since they would leave their droppings and go back home in the morning to lay their eggs)

YEs, I lived in Epe, between Appledoorn and Zwolle, then later in Amsterdam.

AS for not reaping the benefits, at least you got some free fertilizer for your trees
