Poppy’s monarch journey

What is OE please?
OE is a parasite that infects monarch butterflies (and a few other butterflies, but mainly monarchs) crippling them. Infected adults can have millions of microscopic OE spores. The female monarchs can infect their young through spores shed onto eggs.

It is equivalent to mareks (kind of) any butterfly with this must be killed and properly disposed of, and the surface area cleaned. Another reason why NOT to have tropical milkweed, as this can cause more OE.

Oh, and OE stands for Ophryocystis elektroscirrha.

Most commonly, it cripples the wings, making them unable to fly, or splits their proboscis, making them unable to eat, you should put the butterfly down immediately either way, as it could spread to others, and is a horrible life to live. Do NOT let these out into the wild, and clean the surface and everywhere it has been on very good.
