Popular Hens

Question. We were told we were getting 4 pullets and a roo. Turns out we have 3 roos and 2 hens. There not mating yet but a co-worker just informed me that my toos may hurt my hens when it becomes time. They all get along right. Should I separate them or get more hens?? Help!
You won''t be able to keep them together. Even one male with 2 females often results in overbred, barebacked hens.

You will have to separate the males in a bachelor pad or get another 20-30 hens. Or get rid of 2, or all 3 of them.

I've got 7 bantam hens and 2 bantam roosters. One bantam rooster is clearly better (friendlier, gentle with the hens) than the other, but not as good for actually breeding. Currently they are all getting along together at 16 weeks, but I know that probably will not last. I kind of want to keep the lesser of the two roosters for longer to see if his appearance improves before deciding what to do with him. I tried separating him, but he could still see the others and was completely frantic. Do I need to keep him out of sight? It seems kind of mean to put him in the back in a dog kennel all by himself, but better than letting him be slaughtered by our big flock or constantly being tortured by seeing what he can't have.

Is it possible for you to divide the run and keep both males on one side and the pullets on the other? That way your pullets won't be harassed and you'd have time to let the males grow out enough to decide on one of them.

Where did you get your chickens? If there aren't enough hens for a rooster you will have some very loved hens. Too many roo's can cause alot of damage. I'd either find them a home or find a pot...
