In the messages (public and private) section. There will be pop up linking to different places off BYC if you click it. You'll see an underline under the word and the word will be bolded. It appears to pick on certain words. It appears that the words Thank trigger it. There may be others.

I have a public message from Kansasque so I hope it's okay to post it here so you will see the problem

My eggs arrived 2 days after being shipped, all very carefully wrapped and packaged, and with a nice note enclosed. Only 1 fell victim to the trip, and, since she was generous with the extras, I've still got 15 going into the incubator. Hatch day is April 26th and I can't wait : ) Thank you, Nancy!

If you click the Thank you above, it will take you out of BYC and this is where you go.

when you clicked it goes to answer it has in a block Answer this one question and win a walmart card

click there and it asks you to takes you to the survey

Then after in that it takes you to the survey. I'm going to run a full virus check but wanted you to know about this. I'm in Mozilla Foxfire and operating windows 7 ...Appreciate it

That link takes me to your profile: https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/8875/bargain#

It sounds like you may have something going on specifically to your computer that isn't related to BYC. We do have an occasional survey that runs, but it isn't tied to Walmart or anything like that. See here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/627071/byc-survey-trying-to-better-understand-our-users

If you continue to see the survey, please take a screenshot and post it here.

We'll keep an eye out for other reports of problems. The nice thing about having thousands of active members on throughout the day is that if there is a problem with the system, we get a LOT of reports pretty quickly.

Anybody else having this problem? If so, please reply with as many details as possible including a screenshot.

Eureka, I think I've eliminated the problem. Although it did NOT show up in any of the virus checks or even spyware that I have, I researched quite a few dialogues about similar problems and finally eliminated a program on the operating system that somehow self installed itself! . Popups have disappeared Knock on wood.... I'll be sharing with Nifty-Chicken the specific site I used that helped us.

And thanks so Nifty, for responding so quickly!

Do you know what it looked like or said? The only thing even closely resembling a "popup" on BYC would be a survey shown here:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/627071/byc-survey-trying-to-better-understand-our-users

Other than that, there shouldn't be any popups or other surveys.

Unfortunately the only way for us to determine if they are coming from BYC or other pages you might have open at the same time, is by getting details on the item popping up, including screenshots, etc.

So, if anybody sees weird stuff like this, please take a screenshot and provide as much detail as possible.

I'm just going to say I'm getting pop up pages on byc too. I've run virus check, checked 'block pop ups' and done a few traces back on some programs running in the background and I've found nothing!

however, I get the same pages popping up ONLY when I'm on byc. Pages for 'rugged' videos and some work out page.

The really messed up part is it only happened when I'm in the North Carolina thread as soon as I open it. Like that page is a trigger?

VFEM, I did a virus check and also a checked block popups. After a great deal of research, I took the advice of http://wafflesatnoon.com/2011/10/05/seeing-unwanted-text-enhance-ads/ and eliminated Facetheme which had self installed itself on my computer. And I still don't know how or when... It's a key word grabber. it was highlighting and underlining key words - which triggered popups to all kinds of places. I'm not an authorized computer repair person, but it seemed to work for me. Hope this helps you!
