So i picked up this guy today and his 2 girls, he has super long spurs, can you cut them down is it to dangerous? He trips over them sometimes. He is very friendly and his girls too.

He has more of them if anyone is looking for some, he is getting out of the breed and movin them on. had ducks and phesants? donno..

Im gonna put a few eggs in the bator right away if them give me some this week, they look up there in age to me...not sure.
 
never dealt with long spurs yet but I read somewhere you can cut them but you can also twist them a certain way and they will come off . I cant remember where I read about this but I do remember it. I'll look around and see if I can find the article.
 
Baked potato never worked for me. Twisting works, but you need to realise that it takes time to loosen them.

Very pretty bird, but he looks more like the porcelain in silkies than like true porcelain. (He seems to lack mottling.)
 
I just clip them off with wire cutters I clip off about halfway of the spur to avoid bleeding, Chicken never feels a thing they are like long toenails
