Hey Chicken Friends! I live in TX and obviously it gets pretty hot here. I have been using a swamp cooler to help keep the chickens cool but was wondering if anyone has ever used a portable air conditioner in there coop? I know many say the swamp cooler will not work in a humid climate but my chickens literally sit right in front of it as it blast's them with cool air, at least this has been my experience. I know some people have used window air conditioners but my coop is more of an open concept. I already have 2 fans installed as well. Thanks!

I use a window air conditioner, too, but I don't see why a portable one wouldn't work, unless the dust would cause an issue with the intake.

When it is humid leave the swamp cooler running but turn the water off to it and you are essentially doing the same thing, the swamp cooler adds humidity to the air via it's water source.

I did end up buying some small portable air conditioners. They got good reviews so hopefully I can just use them at night in their coop to keep them reasonably cooler! i HATE TX summers!
