Through the search feature I haven't found testimonials on anyone who has ordered assorted turkeys from Porter's Rare Heritage Turkeys. They're offering end of season assortments quite inexpensively. I'd keep a few of the poults and sell the rest locally, since I know a few folks who would be interested in turkeys this late in the year, too.

Were you pleased with your assortment? It says on their website that they will send a list of what is included in the box. Did you find they actually included that list? I'd rather know than play the guessing game! Obviously they could send anything, so I know not to expect any breed in particular. But I would love a variety.

Yes it would be nice to know what turkeys they would have in the assortment pool.
If you contact them, let us know what thier assortment pool is.

Well, I went for it, just in the nick of time. Porter's is no longer accepting orders for the rest of the year.

Hope they arrived safely. I purchased from Porters 2 years ago and got several types and all were marked and included a sheet with the color codes on the heads of the poults.

Good luck!!

Eventually I will be ordering some midget white turkeys through the mail - how are these orders handled - are they shipped through the post office or how - after being shipped I image they are pretty well stressed out and weak - what do you have to do when you get them - are some expected to die because of being shipped - thanks for any responses - Joe

Well, for me nine out of fourteen that arrived are now dead due to flip over syndrome.

When I bought 20 of his poults, they arrived in great shape and I didnt lose any for a long time.

DId you talk with Kevin Porter to get his input on starting poults-- or read his web page?? He answers his emails.
